Pork and Beans

Why is “high quality pork” only in Pork and Beans?

Sure, there is a bit in bacon, ham, pork chops, and pork roast; and a little hiding in sausage.

but …

that delicious lump of pork in each can of Pork and Beans always leaves me yearning for more.

note: I bet if they sold Bean and Porks with just a single bean sitting atop a can of scrumptious pork, the price would be astronomical!

  1. If Wayne Gretsky wasn’t the poster boy for Beans and Pork when I was a kid, I’m sure I’d have figured out that the pork was 99% pig lard and 1 % something special. I still love Beans and Pork though. Yummy!!!!

  2. I like baked beans, and I like pork, but I’ve never had them in combination.

  3. Swine has never been cleaner than in a pool of beans.

  4. excuse me…what? Did you just say that lump in the beans was pork? None of us kids wanted that thing in our beans when we were little….we couldn’t identify it.

  5. Kelly Pettit: if “The Great One” was on the label I’d have bought twice as much!! But alas, it’s someone named Joe Gibbs (race car driver). Gives new meaning to the term “Pit Stop”. hee hee 🙂

Finicky Penguin: if you’ve eaten beans, you must have been exposed to the pork. I think you are in denial 🙂 It says pork right on the label; right between distilled vinegar and baking soda 🙂

    kataztrophy: well said 🙂

sweetiegirlz: unidentified food products is one of the small pleasures in life 🙂

    Mmmmm.

  7. I’ve always wondered why it’s called “pork & beans” when there is so little pork in it. It should be “beans & pork” like Kelly Pettit referred to it above. That is the only time I’ve heard it called that.
