Trying To Catch The Moon

www.kihashiro.com

I saw this piece at a once a year Craft Fair in Matsumoto, Nagano.
The event is a pretty big deal with really good artists from around Japan being invited.

It was tucked inside a little stall among hundreds of other little stalls showing and selling wares: wax work, leatherwork, woodwork, glasswork, metalwork, ceramic work, …

This was the best thing I saw this weekend. I would have bought it, but it was 200,000 yen (about $2.000 plus U.S. dollars).

I wondered why I liked it so much:

It was strange and funky and funny and odd.

It was hiding behind the artist’s other stuff that was more accessible and within the average person’s price range: coat hooks, spoons, …

It was sitting there begging to be looked at .. and being ignored.
I notice stuff like that sometimes.

I went back to this piece 2 days in a row … 2 times each day and even got the artist’s webpage address.

And then I realized I liked it because of what it represented … in a silly sort of way that I could I understand:

reaching, striving, yearning, and trying to obtain a goal.

I don’t have too many goals in life, but this was a metaphor … or metalphor …that I could appreciate.

If I was an artist, I would create stuff like this … because then I could have it, think about it, and keep it close by forever … or until I pass on my little space on this planet to someone else … or sell it and make some more.

note: here is another photo of it.

Trying to Catch the Moon

double note: from the artist’s link  it was made in 2006 and no one’s bought it yet; I may still buy it … if I reach, strive, yearn, and try a bit more than I am right now …  or a bucket of money falls in my lap.

I’m reaching, striving, yearning, and trying for that big bucket of money falling in my lap … because that’s easier.

triple note: I think I put on sappy blogs after a holiday: holidays make me sappy … I guess. Go figure.

quadruple note: possibly there are blogs about a Craft Fair, cactuses (cacti), dogs, fashion, signs, mannequins, and visored people coming on in the near future.
… and other crap as usual.

Me … And … Ering

I could use all of those things!

I don’t have any answers:  I’m just questionable.

note: I’ve cleaned out some of my “Drafts” tonight … it was getting drafty in there.

I’m off for a 3 day weekend. I’ll be back on Sunday or Monday. Feel free to browse. Everyone’s got eyebrowsers, except for bad barbecuers.

double note: have a great weekend or week if you are living in some part of the world that has weird dayzones or something.

triple note: I think I accidentally put on 6 entries tonight … on purpose. I feel lighter already.

A Piece

species of pieces of cheese

When people give you a piece of their mind, it’s never a good piece.

note: I wasn’t expecting that, I thought you were going to give me a piece of gum … or cake … or something good.

Going With The Flow

a trumpet playing robot future ain't so bad

I’m unassuming the worst.

note: I would never have forseen that! … but that’s not so bad.

double note: that robot has some pretty good lungs on it!

triple note: the buttered toast will land on the plate … but I’m not hungry … but I love leftovers … and possibly have jam … and a balanced cat … somewhere … in the future.

Aggression

ker pow!

That balloon penguin thing makes me so angry!

I just want to punch it!

note: I want to give it a few “right uppercuts” and some “wrong lowerscrapes” disfiguratively speaking.

double note: these things are always popping up!

Bubbles

maybe it seems bigger on the inside

I guess everyone lives in their own little bubble, but …

some people’s  bubbles are so small there isn’t any air in them … and there’s always greater surface tension too!

note: they must be into “bubble economy” or something.

double note: I guess young people are young so that they have more time to grow up.

triple note: having all the answers doesn’t mean much when you don’t know what the questions are.

quadruple note: I don’t think I pulled my head out of my ass until I was 28 or so … and that was just to take a look around for a few moments.

quintuple note: I’m as petty as an officer, coat, or cash sometimes; I’m like that.

Dripping

what's that dripping sound?

What`s that dripping sound?

It`s driving me crazy!

oh! it`s my ice cream cone.

nevermind.

nevermind

note: if you`re lactose intolerant, of course dairy products will give you problems. All dairy products lack toes … and cows too!
(I mean cows don’t have toes: they have most of the dairy products though for some reason)

double note: sick snowmen who don`t get cold shots must just go on a drip.

triple note: I think I have 5 entries coming quickly tonight. My Drafts are getting drafty.

Just Another Perspectator

I'm out of perspective!

– Looking at a nice view really puts things in perspective.

– Seeing something clearly with both eyes really gives it perspective.

– Artists usually put things in perspective … unless they are  abstractulating.

– Studying something in depth sometimes leads to a perspective … or possibly a retrospective eventually.

note: Don’t be pointing your view at me!

double note: Perspeculation is for Binocular Visionaries.

The Pearly Gates

purely gates inc.

Who thought up this “Pearly Gates” mumbo jumbo?

It  just brings up too many other questions.

– Does Heaven really need a gate to keep people out? … or in?

– Does this mean it’s possible to sneak in to Heaven?

– Is Heaven under attack?

– Should I be worried about security if I go there?

– Is there a big brick wall attached to these Pearly Gates?

– Can I see over the gate to make sure I’m not walking in to a trap?

– Will I have to wait around if I arrive after hours?

– Is there a Pearly Turnstile too?

I’m not impressed with this “Pearly Gates” imagery …

… I’d rather just walk through a “mettle detector“.

note: amazingly great song by Brett Dennen here  (click on Heaven over to the right, not the entire song .. but most of it)   and a sad one from Chris Rea  here  on the Heaven theme.

double note: maybe they are “purely gates“.

triple note: if I’ve offended anyone, I haven’t meant to; just playing with ideas and words and stuff.

quadruple note: I was going to put a “Welcome Matt” in the drawing, but didn’t want to leave out Mark, Luke, and John.

Miscommunication

wicker store

I said  I wanted to go to the “liquor store” … not the “wicker store”!

note:

macramé is okay
but wicker is quicker.
