Nozomi Ohashi … Again?

Nozomi Ohashi is back again!

If I was a Japanese child, I don’t think I would like her very much: she only seems to show up to notify kids about tests these days.

I bet if you saw Mickey Mouse on your decatheter or Hello Kitty on your speeding tickets, they wouldn’t look so cute anymore.

I have visions of Nozomi trying to hold back the tears in some Tokyo park while shouting, “No! There isn’t a test! … I just want to play tag with you!” … as all the other kids run away from her.

note: do you know what’s better than …

Today #183

Today is the last day of work for a week: I’m on holidays. I’m going to be like a bad idea for the next week. … I’m not going anywhere.

Cardboard Display People: Revisited

I don’t have children.
Never did.
I can’t watch them grow up.

I don’t usually take photos of my students.
Never did.
I don’t see too much change in them from week to week.

… But the adorable cardboard cutout girl, Nozomi Ohashi, has come to visit again!

Cardboard cutout children just grow up so fast, don’t they?

note: I bet if she had some pituitary gland abnormality, and grew like crazy, she would lose this lucrative contract.
… Hey! cardboard is expensive!!!

double note: the original post from last year is here.

triple note: I never did get the cardboard cutout last year. I “rock, paper, and scissored” for her, with some other person who wanted her, and won; but the other guy was just a little bit too disappointed … so I gave it to him. What a weirdo!

quadruple note: this year I’m getting her for sure!

Today #68

Today at work was like a morgue, but at least there were handles on my side.

Cardboard Display People

I took this photo in a hurry when no one was around.

It would almost be worth it to work at a movie theatre for the cardboard display stuff you could get for free.

note: the “cardboard cut out charity” needs your support.

double note: yes, I’ve seen “The Lonely Guy“.

triple note: planetross wants this cardboard display bad. I think after November 3rd it could be gracing my front entrance!

quadruple note: this is Nozomi Ohashi, the little girl who sings the theme song for “Ponyo“. I think everyone in Japan knows it. It’s quite catchy actually … like the flu!

notes to myself #38

Your brothers and sisters are going to call you “Walter” when you get the mumps. They will probably stop calling you that if you don’t get so mad about it.
… same goes for “Eggward“.
