Dance Recital Madness Again!

Yes, it’s that time of year for one of the Big Three on my calendar!

Dance Recital Madness!

Kindergarten Kids doing Kindergarten Dancing … in a Kindergarten no less!!!

I’ve gone for the last 6 years … and probably have another 6 years plus 6 years left in me before I’m not invited anymore … but I’d still go anyway.

Highlights this year:

someone could do a real cartwheel.
– I think they used the theme music from “The Prisoner“.
no one had a meltdown on stage.
– there were “garlic ninjas” and “cabbages” … that’s quite rare.
they let me write my name in English in the sign-in book … although I had to write it vertically.
– I didn’t get too mauled by all the kids.
there were 5 sets of twins performing … I’m still waiting for another set of triplets like 5 years ago.

note: I get to go to another one tomorrow morning. … pinching myself.

double note: the other of the Big Three are here:

Numata Matsuri 2008 / Numata Matsuri 2009

Kinder Olympics / When Was The Last Time?

Dance Recital Madness / Dance Recital Madness: Day 2 / Another Of The Big ThreeDance Recital Madness 2012.

what I’m listening to now #23:  Bread … not the band … just the stuff sitting in the kitchen.

Detouring Around

What does it do? It amazes! tah dah!

When I tell a story, it’s like being in a maze:

… after a while you don’t really care if you get to the end; you just want to get out … and do something more productive.

note: It’s like every story rolled into one … because it is every story rolled into one.

double note: usually my stories are like airline cutlery: pointless.

triple note: the stories have more twists and turns than “a colony of terns in a tornado“!

quadruple note: I’m much better when I write things down … just ask Kelly Pettit or Willy Badger or nathaliewithanh.

(I’ve found a few ears behind the couch in the past)

Can You Guess What It Is?

I went to a 2 hour Firework display in Nagaoka, Niigata, Japan. It was my 4th visit and it didn’t disappoint.

I’m always amazed at the fireworks that make heart, smiley face, and mickey mouse shapes.

Can you guess what this is?

How about this photo?

Maybe this one is better.

Or this one.

note: the fireworks of this turned out perfectly; my camera skills need help.

double note: sweetiegirlz – if you don’t figure it out, I really need to take a photography class.

Ron Mueck: Amazing Sculptures

I’m not much of a Museum person, but I visit the odd one once in a blue moon.

I like art; it’s just not on the top of my to do list.

by chance, I saw some of Ron Mueck‘s work in Kanazawa, Japan.

He Rocks!!

Unbelievable stuff. Life like? I wouldn’t have been surprised if the pieces got up and started walking around. I’m not easily impressed, but this stuff was freaky real: faces, bodies, even the soles of the feet were amazing.

If you have a chance, take a look at his stuff in the flesh. Photos just don’t do it justice.

This is a link to more info and great photos of Ron Mueck’s work.
