Sleep Deeping

I’m voting for the “hibernational party” this Winter.

It’s time for people not to wake up

… and smell the roses until Spring

… or whenever roses start smelling.

note: some birds fly south for the Winter … where do penguins fly to?

double note: bears don’t truly hibernate: they do something called “denning“. I think I could get into this “denning” business.

notes to myself #61

You never learn to skate adequately to play ice hockey, but you do dabble with curling and enjoy it. I know … it’s unbelievable!

  1. …and we HAVE a den!! I could do the denning thingy myself! We’ve even got a new fireplace insert so the den is all warm and toasty. Have to make sure the toast doesn’t burn though.

  2. It’s really strange, this year as opposed to last year, my energy in the cold weather is sooo low. It gets dark and I’m thinking it’s like 9 p.m. and it’s only 5 thirty!

  3. Denning’s great, but only if you have an internet connection

  4. Our den is equipped with a TV, fireplace and PC, but I don’t think I could hibernate. I can hardly sit still for 30 minutes.
Is there such a thing as intermittent denning?

  5. I like you, I do. This Denning business sounds heavenly and smelling roses what for really. Let’s be lazy

  6. I don’t think penguins ever fly to warm places during winters…They are there on ice all through the year…rite ya ?

  7. Seems like everyone resonated with denning. Me on the other hand… I think that bicycle would be a tad uncomfortable. If you’ve been out riding that, no wonder your mind is on denning. By the way, do penguins fly? or just swim (to warmer waters??) Maybe they just den, too.

  8. Of course penguins fly, they have wings. Wings=Flying
I am of the understanding that they fly north to Africa. Then they spend the winter sunning themselves on the Savannah. (Info from Dummies book of nature)

  9. Thanks for all the comments.

    S. Le: is there anything better than freezing outside and then entering a nice warm house/restaurant/bar?
It’s one of the only things about Winter that I don’t half mind.

sweetiegirlz: I work in a basement and during the week never see it get dark outside. Weekends screw me up when it gets dark at 5 pm: for me it’s a 10 pm thing.

Tooty Nolan:denning” requires a big window to look out of: you have to know how cold it is outside while “denning” … or else it’s just lying on the sofa and being lazy. hee hee!

note: I started reading The Where House, but then I got sick. I will rejoin Boney Legge and his employees shortly. It’s been a good read so far.

Tammy:denning” is not for the industrious. It sounds like you have all the goodies for “denning” but lack the … lacking part. hee hee!

Silindile Ntuli: thanks for stopping by. In Winter I just stop and smell my sofa often … oh! my sofa’s name is “rose“.
    hee hee!

Tasneem R: penguins must be afraid of flying.

Donald Diddams: are you punning me with “riding“? I’m not sure how much you may not know about English/Commonwealth constituencies.
Maybe I should form a “resonational party” to promote “denning” and other ideas people like. hee hee!
There are penguins in the Galapagos Islands that enjoy the warmer climes. If I was a penguin I’d want to be one of those ones.

Tony: thoughts of time shares with ostriches, emus, and cassowaries come to mind. hee hee!
