Local Knowledge Necessary

It is not down in any map; true places never are.  ~Herman Melville

Memories in a wink, of other times;

My pockets full of expectations, circumstances, and chances.

In my thoughts a thousand smiles, dreams to be true for the taking.

I Saw a Man

  I saw a man pursuing the horizon;
Round and round they sped.
I was disturbed at this;
I accosted the man.
“It is futile,” I said,
“You can never — “”You lie,” he cried,
And ran on.

Stephen Crane

  1. Well, I’ll just fucking be.

    That’s a clinical use of the f word, by the way.

    You had me at the photograph and Melville. Lord, the master of locale.

    And, then, Stephen Crane…which I’d never read before and which will haunt me all day.

    I knew you were made for these challenges. You and the Razzman are going to be the audience favorites on our world tour.

  2. PS. We’re closing our world tour;s night or afternoon of entertainment with your words and Razzman giving a pyrotechnic 1-2-3.

    In my thoughts a thousand smiles, dreams to be true for the taking.

    Jesus, PR, you kill me. You really do.

  3. This post made me want to be you…well philosophically speaking of course.

    My pockets are also full of expectations, circumstances, and chances,

    I just can’t pursue them like you have done….

    You’re blessed.

  4. ”You lie,” he cried, And ran on.

    I like the idea of not letting other people’s idea of truth get in the way of our own chance to discover things for ourselves.

    Someone once said, “it’s not the destination that matters, it’s journey”.
