Cuckoo Mentality

Cuckoo birds are sneaky: they lay their eggs in other birds’ nests.

Sometimes the cuckoo egg is noticed and pushed out of the nest; sometimes the other bird ends up feeding and caring for the baby cuckoo.

At my last BBQ a person brought his uninvited hungry A.D.D. kid and didn’t supervise him.

The kid snatched and ate big platefuls of meat and rampaged through my place.

Next time I won’t invite the cuckoo to my nest.

  1. That’s too bad.

Although, I do like the mental image of a cuckoo rampaging through the forest!

We just got our two year old to say “May I please have a ___”.

He can grow up to be what ever he wants, but he will be polite! [/brag]

  4. Teaching your kids how to be polite is our responsibility. As you and I are both teachers, it amazes me how many parents think it’s the teachers job. I thought teachers teach things like Math, Art, P.E. etc. ?? I was at your party and I remember that kid doing that. I was bummed because I was going to steal all the meat but he beat me to it!

  5. sweetiegirlz: the kid got bigger as the night went on 🙂 age? about 11.

Turkish Prawn and Kelly Pettit: yes, manners begin at home. Not my home, someone else’s home 🙂

Kelly Pettit: I actually wrote this about you metaphorically and hoped you wouldn’t recognize yourself. I guess I did a good job 🙂
