Giant Bonsai Trees

May 18, 2008 · 11 Comments

I have giant bonsai trees in my yard.

The people who lived here before me must have failed their bonsai class, so they planted them.

There is not much else you can do with giant bonsai trees.

They are too small to cut up for firewood and too big to stay in a pot.

They are useless once planted too!

You can never hang a birdfeeder or tire swing from them.

They only provide shade to ants.

Kids can’t climb them.

They never grow big enough to create a privacy barrier.

It’s sad really.

Poor giant bonsai trees.

note: I guess dwarfed giant redwood trees just look like regular redwood trees. They can still lead productive lives.

Am I the only one who can’t help but think of The Karate Kid when I see Bonsai trees?

They are kind of worthless, aren’t they? Poor trees.

on the upside, you could build a hella model railroad out there.

I agree. At least they won’t get pissed on as often by humans and dogs.

I think the lawn gnomes might disagree with you?

My chum is trying to grow one and they grow by themselves in your yard? Unfair.

But is there a group raising money to help the poor bonsai trees? It seems like there should be some tree hugging group in charge of this plight.

    Pomeroy: wax on wax off.

diesel: if bonsai grew fruit, they would be better.

Artie Dugan: they would look good surrounding a miniature railway!

Kelly Pettit: you’re right! They don’t provide too much privacy.

birdflew: the lawn gnomes disagree with everybody :)

    S. Le: They are in the yard, but they aren’t really growing: a stick would probably grow faster :)

Willow: maybe not tree huggers: tree pinchers would be more accurate :)

Nice work! Your garden looks lovely and it looks like you are going to have a great summer full of fresh veggies and herbs.

If I was you i would do some more research on what a bonsai really is. What you have are just trees at this point or maybe called pre-bonsai trees. To make a bonsai you must artistically work a tree to a point where you can call it a bonsai. And I have seen way bigger trees than yours on pots that are bonsai trees. Those type of trees might be good for a literati style bonsai. Look it up and see what you will find.

bonsai kid: thanks for stopping by.
This entry was just supposed to be humorous.
    Maybe it’s a pre-bonsai tree post.

to be fair: a pre-bonsai tree and a bonsai tree left unattended for a long time would possibly look about the same. I could be wrong; I usually am.
