Belly Buttons

I always try to learn the word for belly button in different languages.

 Why?

 I am terrible at learning languages, but one word isn’t so bad to remember.

 and

 It appeals to my sense of the trivial.

 

I’m not going to list all the different words because I would embarrass myself trying to spell them.

 

 You will have to take my word for it.

    Have you read The Meaning of Tingo? It is a great book. I don’t remember it including “bellybutton” but there were lots of other great words from around the world…

    I haven’t read that book, but I’ll keep a look out for it.
    I usually figure out the word for ashtray pretty quick too :)

    Ashtray schmashtray. What you really need to know to get around the world is the proper term for a “person who deals in stolen cats” :)

    Or maybe I’ve just been a lucky girl?
